Irene Andia Biaro
Dr Irene Andia Biraro is an Infectious Diseases Physician and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Internal Medicine, School of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, Makerere University, Uganda. She is also an Honorary Associate Scientist at the MRC/UVRI & LSHTM Uganda Research Unit. She has a strong background in academia with expertise in infectious diseases and immunology, and special interest in epidemiological, clinical and immunological interactions between tuberculosis (TB) infection and co-infections/co-morbidities.
As deputy director of the Postgraduate directorate in the department of Internal Medicine, she is also passionate about medical education, in particular the impact of mentorship and quality improvement in post graduate training. She is also a founding members of the East Central and Southern African College of Physicians where she currently serves as the chair of the Academy of Educators, the quality assurance arm of the college.
