Reinout van Crevel
Reinout van Crevel is an internist-infectious disease specialist who combines clinical work in infectious diseases with teaching and research. In his research he links clinical studies related to tuberculosis with genetics and other laboratory research, and studies into the quality and accessibility of patient care. He has a special interest in resistance to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, combined tuberculosis and diabetes, and tuberculous meningitis. He combines patient studies and laboratory sciences to understand the ‘biology’ and improve the prevention and management of TB.
Reinout van Crevel is visiting professor at Oxford University and (parttime) senior scientist at the Eijkman Oxford Clinical Research Unit in Jakarta, Indonesia. His international work has a strong component of capacity strengthening, aiming for better patient care and academic development of clinicians and researchers.
