Kick-off meeting

In January 2020, the PROTID consortium met for the first time as a group during a two-day kick-off meeting in Mbeya, Tanzania. The meeting was a beautiful mixture of getting to know each other, learning about TB and diabetes, working on the PROTID preparations and becoming closer as a group of colleagues from around the world.

NIMR-MMRC, being the sponsor of the trial, hosted the PROTID kick-off meeting in Mbeya, in the south of Tanzania. All partners from Tanzania, Uganda, New Zealand, United Kingdom and The Netherlands gathered for a fruitful meeting. During the closed sessions all consortium members worked hard on the trial preparations, discussing the different Work Packages, the trial protocol and much more. In addition, there were various open sessions about TB-DM, to which the wider NIMR-MMRC staff and students were invited as well, resulting in lively discussions and interaction. We look back on a very successful kick-off meeting in which a strong foundation was laid for collaboration in the years to come.
